Dressage saddle Testing

Henriette Andersen rode four of her Grand Prix horses in their original saddle and girth combination for simultaneous pressure mapping and gait anlaysis testing. These readings were used to gather benchmark data.

Henriette then repeated the simultaneous testing procedure using the new Fairfax Dressage Monoflap with the Performance Panel and Performance Girth.

Henriette then repeated the simultaneous testing procedure using the new Fairfax Dressage Monoflap with the Performance Panel and Performance Girth.

Using the Fairfax Performance System, all four of Henriette's horses recorded the following:

  • Reduced peak pressures
  • Lower maximum forces
  • Greater fore and hind limb extensions
  • Increased knee and hock flexion
  • Improved gait symmetry

Markers were placed on the four horses to identify joint centres and then a high speed camera, capturing footage at 300 frames per second, was used to record the horses' movement.

The data was then processed using Quintic software to analyse joint flexion.

The results showed in all four horses the Fairfax Performance System improved range of motion and in some cases where asymmetry was present, the saddles significantly improved symmetry. These are key areas in maintaining soundness with symmetrical horses and improving performance
